Diagnosis
(after Framenau et al. 2022): Males and females of S. sydneyica consistently only have a single tubercle on the posterior abdomen unlike all other Socca species. In addition, genitalia are highly distinctive, with males bearing a flattened and subtriangular terminal apophysis apical lobe, and two sclerotised prongs on the basal lobe; while females have a bulged constricted atrium with lateral plates very enlarged, and very thin scape, keeping its same thickness in all its length.
