Hamataliwa species are easily distinguished from other Australian Oxyopidae by their small size, relatively short legs, less prominent leg spines and characteristic male and female genitalia.
Lynx Spiders
Oxyopidae
The Lynx Spiders, family Oxyopidae, are easily recognised by their unique constellation of the eyes, which form a hexagon at the front of the carapace. They are diurnal hunters with very spiny legs.
Hamataliwa
1 species
Anterior margin of fang groove bears single tooth, if two larger than 8 mm; epigynum never pit-like; embolus rarely looped at base, if so shaped then spider longer than 8 mm
Oxyopes
25 species
Differs from Oxyopes back the lack of teeth on the cheliceral margins. In addition, the row of the anterior lateral eyes is wider than that of the that of the posterior median eyes, whereas it is subequal or narrower in Oxyopes.
