Orb-weaving Spider Socca kullmanni Framenau & Castanheira, 2021
Fauna Portal species: 11213Diagnosis
(after Framenau et al. 2022): The male pedipalp morphology of S. kullmanni is most similar to that of S. sydneyica as the excavated apical section occupies almost half of the length of the median apophysis. However, both species differ distinctly in other details of the pedipalp; for example the basal lobe of the terminal apophysis has two small protrusions apically in S. sydneyica which are absent in S. kullmanni. In addition, the appendix of the terminal apophysis is much stronger in S. kullmanni. The female epigyne is possibly most similar to that of S. senicaudata, but differs distinctly by the raised, sinuous lateral borders of the atrium in S. kullmanni which are absent in S. senicaudata.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
