Courtaraneus
Courtaraneus is a large and distinct genus of orb-weaving spider currently only known from New Zealand. It has a unique genital morphology, specifically in relation to the male pedipalp that has two unique, heavily sclerotised apophyses on the tibia.
The genus is here included in the Fauna Portal Australia, as it was revised in co-authorship by one of the Fauna Portal founders and to show the applicability of the Fauna Portal beyond Australia.
