Genus 3347, to which Araneus rainbowi (Roewer, 1942) belongs, includes orb-weaving spiders with a somewhat dorso-ventrally flattened, triangular abdomen with speckled pattern. The male pedipalp is distinguished be a spine-like, long terminal apophysis. The female epigyne is generally wider than long with radiating folds. These spiders are superficially similar to those of Genus 3313 (the psittacinus group), but the genital morphology is very different. Genus 3347 is currently only known from Eastern Australia.
