Iridonyssus from other Corinnidae genera by the pustulose iridescent carapace and from Poecilipta in the relatively wider carapace and much shorter legs.
Swift Spiders
Corinnidae
(after Framenau et al. 2014): As relatives of the Sac Spiders (family Clubionidae), Swift Spiders have a comparable eye pattern of similar-sized eyes in two rows. They have elongated bodies with long legs. The abdomen may be partly sclerotised, in particular around the pedicel. Three subfamilies are recognised from Australia. The Castianeirinae, characterised by a short, corkscrew-shaped embolus of the male pedipalp, includes the majority of the indigenous Australian Swift Spider fauna. The Corinninae and Oedignathinae mainly include introduced cosmopolitan or tropical species and these are best identified based on species specific characters.
The Corinnidae of Australia were revised by Raven (2015).
