Genus 3313 (psittacinus gp)
The eburneiventris-group includes small to medium-sized, green orb-weaving spiders with a round abdomen. Some colour patterns such as red, white or black marks or spots and lines may be present on the abdomen, but it is unlikely that these are species-specific. Species identification requires examination of genitalia, although the female epigyne is very uniform between species and it may not be possible to identify females based on morphology. The terminal apophysis of the male pedipalp has characteristic small denticles, the epigyne of the female is very simple with a short and broad scape.
The described species of the eburneiventris-group include at least Araneus circulisparsis, A. eburneiventris, A. ginninderanus, A. liberalis, A. memoryi, A. nigropunctatus, A. parvus, A. pius, A. psittacinus and A. rabiosulus (V.W. Framenau, unpublished data), but only A. ginninderanus and A. psittacinus have been reviewed and genitalia illustrated to allow species-level identification (see Dondale 1966).
