Diagnosis
(after Framenau et al. 2022): Socca arena is very similar to S. senicaudata both somatically and in relation to genital morphology. They are both restricted to Western Australia with overlapping distribution patterns. Males of both species can best be separated by the shape of the conductor in apico-dorsal view; it is excavated spoon-shaped with a pointed tip and a rounded apical edge in S. arena , but has a distinct straight apical edge in S. senicaudata . Females of Socca arena can be distinguished from those of S. senicaudata by the antero-lateral edges of the epigyne, which forms a right angle in the former and is broadly rounded in the latter. These differences are also evident in specimens with broken off scapes.
