(after Framenau & Vink 2001): Venatrix brisbanae is similar to V. ornatula in size and colouration. However, the tegular apophysis of the male pedipalp consists of two distinct parts in V. brisbanae, but only one large triangular part in V. ornatula. The epigyne of the female with its triangular posterior transverse part is distinctly different from that of V. ornatula, which has a rectangular posterior transverse part.
