(after Framenau 2010): The basoembolic apophysis of the male pedipalp is reduced to a sclerotised rim in most Kangarosa, but its presence in combination with the apical tegular apophysis identifies Kangarosa as member of the lycosid subfamily Artoriinae. Within this subfamily, the length of the anterior eye row, which is greater than that of the posterior median eye row, places the genus close to Diahogna and some Tetralycosa. However, Kangarosa differs from these genera in the shape of the tegular apophysis of the male pediplap that forms an elongated hook (here considered the synapomorphy for the genus). The tegular apophysis of Tetralycosa is also hook-shaped, but much shorter. In contrast, the tegular apophysis of Diahogna is short and straight..
