(after Framenau and Castanheira, 2022): Males M. occidentalis can be separated from those of M. albida by subtle differences in key pedipalp sclerites, specifically the conductor is more elongate and the terminal apophysis is more bent apically. In addition, the subterminal branch of the embolus appears smaller in M. albida than that in M. occidentalis. Females of M. occidentalis are distinguished from those of M. albida by the longer scape and its narrower tip.
