This species from northern Queensland is here tentatively referred to Araneus poltyoides, originally described from Papua New Guinea, based on Chrysanthus' (1971) original description. In his description he already alerted to similarities with Araneus acuminatus, here representing the undescibed Genus 3338.
Male A. poltyoides differs from A. acuminatus by the serrated edge of the median apophysis of the male pedipalp. Females of A. poltyoides have a more protruding head region than A. acuminatus and a less sclerotised epigyne scape.
