Wolf Spider Artoria taeniata Prado, Baptista & Framenau, 2024
Fauna Portal species: 12473Diagnosis
(after Prado et al. 2024): Males and females of Artoria taeniata resemble those of Artoria corowa Framenau & Baehr, 2018 which does not occur in Western Australia. Both species share male pedipalps with a broad, concave, ribbon-shaped tegular apophysis curved retrolaterally, but they differ by its distal part truncated and projected ventrally in Artoria taeniata (vs. bi-lobed and slightly projected in A. corowa; Framenau & Baehr 2018; fig. 14E). Females of both species have an epigyne with a bi-lobed projecting anterior margin of atrium, but in Artoria taeniata this projecting margin is shorter, also the lateral lobes are very close together, almost touching its tips, and more parallel to the epigastric furrow, while in A.corowathe lateral lobes are far apart and more perpendicular to the epigastric furrow (Framenau & Baehr 2018; fig. 14G).

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
