(after Framenau et al. 2006): In contrast to the other two darker colored Hogna species of artesian springs, H. crispipes and H. kuyani, the carapace coloration of H. diyari is light brown with a wide yellow median band that constricts anteriorly of the fovea and narrows slightly posteriorly. Most distinguishable is a pair of small black spots behind the epigastric furrow and up to eight spots along the lateral border of the yellow venter.
