(after Framenau 2006): Mainosa longipes displays a unique color pattern among known wolf spiders. The abdomen is dark brown to black, with light brown to white transverse bars and lines in the posterior half of the abdomen, less distinct in males. It is the only known species in the genus Mainosa.
