Rushed Cob-web Spider Achaearanea propera (Keyserling, 1890)
Fauna Portal species: 13395Diagnosis
Amongst all 'diamond-back' Cryptachaea, this is the only species that matches the original description and illustrations of Theridium properum by Keyerserling (1890) as reproduced here. This identification is also consistent with that of Hickman (1967) who illustrated the male pedipalp. The female holotype has not been examined.
The epigyne of the female of Cryptachaeapropera is unique within the genus being wider than long and looking like the opening of a human nose. The male pedipalp is unique within the genus due to its two-lapped conductor.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
