(after Yoshida 2016): Nihonhimea resembles Parasteatoda, but is distinguishable from the latter by the following characteristics (Parasteatoda in parentheses): 1) basal color orange to light brown (usually dark brown); 2) female internal genitalia with thick, short and not twisted duct (long and twisted); 3) embolus of male pedipalp thick and slightly curved without large base (thin and with large base); 4) median apophysis concave (not concave); 5) tegulum small (relatively large); and 6) make a sheet web under the irregular one (not make a sheet web).
