(after Baehr et al. 2017): Males of Oxyopes punctatus are similar to those of O. amoenus in having a long retrobasal, hooked cymbial process but can be distinguished by the long triangular median tegular apophysis. Females of O. punctatus can be separated from all other described species by the rectangular scapus with long backwards directed projections at the posterolateral corners.
