(after Platnick 2000): Males of Lampona brevipes resemble those of L. lomond in having a dorsally directed retrolateral tibial apophysis accompanied by a smaller, more dorsal tibial apophysis, but both apophyses are smaller than in that species; females can be easily recognized by the very large protuberance projecting from the middle of the epigynum.
