Stephanopis FP-6020 can be diagnosed by the female epigyne, which has two small pointy protrusion originating at the posterior edge of the epigyne and pointing anteriorly. The male has a broadly bifid tip of the retrolateral apophysis of the male pedipalp that does not match any of the species illustrated in Machado (2019). The species is similar to those related to S. bicornis.
