(after Framenau et al. 2010): Median apophysis and paracymbium in males of Demadiana diabolus are somewhat similar to those of D. cerula, but D. diabolus can be easily distinguished by the much narrower paracymbium that only has a short ridge in contrast to the broad sharp ridges in D. cerula. Females of D. diabolus lack a scape which is present in D. cerula.
