(after Chrysanthus 1975): These specimens resemble in many respects Steatoda lepida (Cambridge, 1879) from New Zealand but the pattern of the abdomen is distinctly different.
Males of S. nasata can be distinguished by the serrated edge of one of the apical apophysis in the male pedipalp. Female epigynes have an elongated scape with a wrinkled base.
