Common Ariadna Ariadna tangara Marsh, Baehr, Glatz & Framenau, 2018
Fauna Portal species: 8918Diagnosis
(after Marsh et al. 2002): Ariadna tangara can be differentiated from all other described species of Ariadna in Australia by the presence of a group of three large macrosetae on a shared, raised base, apically on the retrolateral surface of tibia I of males. Females can be distinguished from other species by the genitalia, with the ventral lobe being more or less straight and around 1.25 times the length of the dorsal lobe and without an apical ventral fold as seen in A. woinarskii. Of the closest Tasmanian species, it can be differentiated from Ariadna major by the number of macrosetae in metatarsus IV, of which there are seven in A. major, but four in A. tangara.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
