Of the four species of Xestaspis found on Barrow Island, Xestaspis FP-261 is most similar to Xestaspis FP-260, both being dark reddish-brown. Xestaspis FP-261 differs by the much lower carapace and the presence of long setae absent in Xestaspis FP-260.
