The epigyne of Gonatium lividulum is very similar to that of Ceratinella sydneyensis and the species is therefore listed here in Ceratinella. Simon (1908) described the species as doubtful listing for Gonatium ("Gonatium (?) lividulum n. sp.").
The species is currently listed as nomen dubium as Milledge (1981) could not locate the holotype of this species, which is here illustrated from the Natural History Museum Berlin, where most of Simon's (1908, 1909) types are lodged.
