Elongated Running Crab Spider Tibellus tenellus (L. Koch, 1876)
Fauna Portal species: 269Diagnosis
Tibellus tenellus is an elongated, green-brownish spider with characteristic eye pattern and genital morpholoy. It resembles some species of the Miturgidae, which also have elongated abdomen.
This species of Tibellus is here referred to T. tenellus, as the epigyne matches in good detail that illustrated by L. Koch (1876), although the illustrations of the holotype female reproduced here (Dupérré 2023) show some variation. A review of Australian Tibellus, including male pedipalp morphology, is required to confirm the species status.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
