Pointed-scape Artoria Artoria scapulata Prado, Baptista & Framenau, 2026
Fauna Portal species: 12494Diagnosis
(after Prado, Baptista & Framenau, 2026): Females of A. scapulata resemble those of A. extraordinaria by their epigyne with poorly defined structures mainly formed by a plate with a convex posterior margin. However, the epigyne of A. scapulata differs by having the lateral lobes fused to the main plate, the convex subtriangular posterior portion of the main plate more pronounced and the spermathecae rounded and tubular, while in A. extraordinaria the lateral lobes are broadly rounded and translucent, not fused with the main plate, the convex subtriangular posterior portion of the main plate less pronounced and the spermathecae oval and more distinguishable from the spermathecal stalks.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
