From other Toxopinae genera by double row of trichobothria on metatarsi and tarsi; additionally, from Toxops by distinctly narrowed caput in dorsal view and male pedipalp with median apophysis, from Laestrygones and Hapona by chelicerae with lateral boss, by absence of denticulate ventral abdominal plate present in Laestrygones, from Hapona by apical insertion of embolus of male pedipalp.
Obscure Ground Spiders
Toxopidae Hickman, 1940
Type genus: Toxops Hickman, 1940
(after Wheeler et al. 2017): Three-clawed RTA clade cribellate (Jamara) or ecribellate Araneomorphae with highly branched posterior median tracheae. Toxopines are small spiders, many laterigrade, that have a T-shaped conductor on the male pedpalp. Many have strongly recurved or procurved eye rows; at least Midgee, Jamara and Laestrygones have a stout seta on the anterior face of the paturon; Laestrygones and Toxops have a patch of scales anterior to the posterior tracheal spiracle. Myroines may have strongly procurved eye rows (Myro and Ommatauxesis); all have vulvae with slender, convoluted copulatory ducts.
