The only species of Simaethula currently on the Fauna Portal, but only tentatively included in this genus at the male has a retrolateral tibial apophysis on the pedipalp, which is characteristically bifurcate. Within Barrow Island, where this species is known from, the female is most similar to Simaetha FP-13398, but only half its size.
