The genus Clubiona differs from the second genus of the family to occur in Australia, Pteroneta, by the lack of brushes of setae on the tarsi of the second legs.
Sac Spiders
Clubionidae
(after Framenau et al. 2014): The common name Sac Spiders (family Clubionidae) refers to the sac-like retreat in which spiders of this family hide during the day. These mostly long-legged, fragile looking spiders are generally pale or cinnamon coloured, sometimes with a weak abdominal pattern. The chelicerae are often darker coloured and protrude forward from underneath the carapace. Clubionidae have a thoracic groove, which is generally absent or weak in the Cheiracanthiidae. In addition, the posterior eye row is usually wider than the anterior one in the Clubionidae, whereas it is not or only barely wider in the Eutichuridae.
