Argiope
Orb-weaving spiders in the genus Argiope typically have a procurved posterior eye row, i.e. the lateral eyes are situated in front of the median eyes. Molecular data suggest that the genera Gea and Neogea are junior synonyms of Argiope.
The genus has been revised for Australia (Levi 1983).
