This section includes all cicadas that can currently not be referred to a described genus.
True Cicadas
Cicadidae Batsch, 1789
Type genus: Cicada Linnaeus, 1758
(after Moulds 1990): The True Cicadas are characterised by having tymbals in males only or sometimes absent, tympana present, males with an abdomen substantially cavernous forming a resonant chamber, a forewing venation with Rs arising from node near or beyond middle of costa, and veins 1A and 2A concurrent for most of their length, a nervous system with all ganglia fused, male genitalia without harpagones, tarsal empodia absent, and a pronotum not concealing the majority of mesonotum.
Cicadidae gen. indet.
1 species
Body length 10.7–15 mm. Head and thorax predominantly black and of similar width, except ampliated (outwardly curved) lateral angles of pronotal collar projecting beyond outer margins of compound eyes
Graminitrigrina
1 species
lllyria is at once separated from Tamasa it by the much larger male tymbal covers which almost conceal the tymbals, whereas the tymbal covers of Tamasa cover no more than half the area of the tymbals.
Illyria
1 species
Small to medium-sized cicadas. Paranota with mid-lateral tooth; fore wing ambient vein continuously infuscated along much of its length in all described species except apicata; fore wing apical cells much shorter than the ulnar cells in all species except apicans, apicata and froggatti.
Kobonga
1 species
Medium to large cicadas. The broad pronotal collar (nearly equal to diameter of eyes, or a little more) with lateral margins greatly reduced is unique to Macrotristria.
Macrotristria
1 species
Small cicadas. Distinguished from all other genera by having the combination of fore wing veins M and CuA meeting the basal cell with their stems completely fused as one.
Myopsalta
1 species
Small cicadas. Distinguished by the broad head that is clearly wider than the mesonotum and the lengths of the three distal vein sections that make up the inner margin of the radial cell which are all of similar length.
Taurella
1 species
