Neostornea FP-4348 is darker than Neostorena FP-370. Males also differ by the less pointy and less excavated retrolateral margin of the cymbium. The anterior margin of the epigyne is rounded and well defined, whereas it is more straight and less defined in Neostorena FP-369.
The reference specimen of this species is from Barrow Island. The males from the Pilbara region mapped here differ somewhat by having a slightly shorter cymbial retromarginal tip and a slightly different retrolateral tibial apophysis. They are here considered a variation of this species, but may represent a different, closely related species.
