Shield Bug Stenozygum meridionale Gross, 1976
Fauna Portal species: 11757Diagnosis
(after Gross 1976): This may ultimately be proved to be a subspecies of S. miniatulum from northern Western Australia or of S. persignatum from eastern Queensland and New South Wales. Frequently subspecies differ in the degree of development of certain markings but in this case there are markings on each form which are absent on the others from which I conclude that they are distinct species.
(after Ahmad & Khan 1983): This species is closely related to S. miniatulum in having the clypeus subequal in length to the paraclypei, but can easily be separated on the small lateroposterior lobes of pygophore. In addition, the third antennal segment is not distinctly longer than the fifth (as in S. miniatulum).

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
