(after Gross 1975): Species placed in this genus have quite a varied appearance, some are strongly spined laterally on the pronotum, others have the pronotal lateral angles acute, obtuse or even truncate. Members of the genus can be confused with Parocirrhoe and Avicenna species but in these latter genera the posterior angles of the seventh laterotergites are strongly and angulately produced
