Diagnosis

(after Raven 2015): Males of Nyssus paradoxus differ from all other Australian Castianeirinae in the strongly spinose retrolateral tibial apophysis and opposed wing-like paracymbial spines; females differ from those of N. robertsi in that the median epigynal groove does not extend to the epigastric ridge.
