Brush-footed Trapdoor Spider Synothele FP-11349
Discoverer: V.W. Framenau (2021)

Fauna Portal species: 11349
Family: Barychelidae

Diagnosis

Synothele FP-11349 belongs to a group of Pilbara species in which males of a finger-like apico-prolateral spur on the tibia of leg I. It differs from the other recognised species by the combination of a uniformly dark carapace pattern and a long keel on the pedipalp bulb. Very few specimens are currently known in the group and differences here considered species-specific may turn out to be intra-specific variation and all belong to the same species.

Fauna Portal Records

The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
