Dingo Lynx Spider Oxyopes dingo Strand, 1913
Fauna Portal species: 7601Diagnosis
The spider illustrated here was identified as O. dingo based on Grimshaw (1991). The male pedipalp alveolus occupies almost total length of cymbium; cymbium tip a blunt squat cone with a number of small spines around tip; cymbium with a large paracyrnbium; tibia bears large ventral, distal apophysis; median apophysis with two distinct prongs. Anterior portion of female epigyne 'T' shaped, broadly connected to large posterior lobes. Transverse T-section narrow, wider than posterior lobes.
The collection from Barrow Island shows this species to be very variable in colouration, from specimens almost entirely yellow when preserved to dark-contrasty colours as illustrated here.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
