Bostrichidae Latreille, 1802
Type genus: Bostrichus Geoffroy, 1762
(after Hangay & Zborowski 2010): Bostrichids are generally black to reddish-brown in colour, cylindrical in shape and roughly 3-20mm in length. The head is directed downwards and nearly completely concealed from above. The antennae are not geniculate and are generally composed of 9-11 segments, with a 2-3 segmented club. The pronotum is usually wrinkled, sometimes with a curved or hook-like protrusion. The elytra is usually marked with pits and possesses apical spines. Tarsal formula is 5-5-5.
