Barrow Island Ground Spider Genus 507 (BWI gen. 6) FP-3673 (BWI sp. 4)
Discoverer: V.W. Framenau (2023)

Fauna Portal species: 3673
Family: Gnaphosidae

Diagnosis

Genus 507 FP-3673 is superficially similar to Genus 507 FP-209 based on size and colouration, but genital morphology is distinctly different. Particularly prominent is the blade like apophysis of the male of Genus 507 FP-3673 in retrolateral view. The female epigyne of Genus 507 FP-3673 has a raised median band in the atrium, absent in Genus 507 FP-209.

Males and females have not been found together and have here been match up based on general morphology taking the limited number of ground spider species on Barrow Island into account.

Fauna Portal Records

The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
