Theridion attritum is currently only known from the type material (lectotype female designated by Levi (1968)) and is characterised by the abdominal pattern (dorsal with two irregular pale and a dark central line, ventral with pale transverse band) and by the characteristic, round epigyne atrium.
Levi (1968) designated a female in the Paris museum as lectotype. Other specimens of the type series are present in Hamburg (7 specimens, likely females) and the WA Museum (1 female).
