This species was placed in Tasmanicosa by molecular methods (unpublished data) and differs from other speces of the genus by the lack of the Union-Jack pattern on the carapace. As a salt lake dweller, this species is similar to another salt lake wolf spider, Lycosa salifodina, but differs in the shorter and more squat epigyne median septum. The male of this species is unknown.
