Lycosa australicola is a distinctive species with a distinct triangular patch on the dorsal abdomen, pale V-shaped marking on a black venter, and the female with an inverted T-shaped epigyne septum with broad posterior transverse part. It is currently the only species of the australicola-group on the Fauna Portal.
