Brush-footed Trapdoor Spider
Synothele
FP-11350 (WAM MYG747)
Discoverer: V.W. Framenau (2021)
Fauna Portal species: 11350Diagnosis
Synothele FP-11350 belongs to a group of species in which males have an elongated, finger-like apico-prolateral spur on the tibia of leg I (in contrast to species without spur and those with a relatively shorter and blunt spur, such as in S. butleri). Synothele FP-11350 differs from other species in this group by an overall light, yellowish colouration and details in the male pedipalp bulb, specifically a distinct flange. However, only very few specimens are known in this group per species and the variation her considered to represent new species may turn out to be infraspecific.

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
