Palaeohyphantes

(after Millidge 1984): Palaeohyphantes is defined by the form of the genitalia of the type species. The epigyne is of a simple form, with the genital openings lying on the ventralsurface, at the anterior ends of the lateral junctions of the dorsal and ventral plates. There is no scape, socket or atrium. Posteriorly the ventral plate has a rounded swelling on either side of the dorsal plate, and each of these swellings has a small nipple-like elevation. The internal duct system is very simple. The male palp is of very simple form, and appears to lack a suprategulum. The genus is haplotracheate.
