(after Bíly and Hanlon 2020): The apical margins of the anal sternite and ventrite together with the posterior margins of laterosternites form small, transverse, vertical, usually elliptical or rectangular plate, so called “anal plate”. This plate is the typical morphological character of the genus Bubastes which is not found in any other buprestid genus (except for the related genus Bubastoides.
