Type species: Armadillo (Buddelundia) labiatus (Budde-Lund, 1912) by subsequent designation (Taiti et al. 1998)

(after Judd & Perina 2013): Pleopod exopodites interlocking with pleopod 5 covered by pleopod 4. Dorsal surface convex with schisma on posterior corner of pereonite 1. Without horizontal epimera. Interlocking structures on pereonite 1 and 2 are principal diagnostic characters for species identification; refer to photographs for all species.
Buddelundia as currently definded is unlikely monophyletic and therefore the genus requires revision.
