McPhee Blind Pseudoscorpion
Tyrannochthonius
FP-13208 (WAM PSE256)
Discoverer: M.S. Harvey, P. Middelfart (2024)
Fauna Portal species: 13208Diagnosis
Adult, immediate character unique high number of sternal seta. The only other species herein with similar large number is WAM PSE255 and T. garthhumphreysi, a Barrow Island species, with less tergal setae. WAM PSE255 has one extra seta on coxa 3, chaetotaxy 3:3:4:5:5 as opposed to 3:3:3:5:5, slightly retrorse chelal teeth, sb on movable finger closer to the center between b and st, curved lyrifissure on maxilla as opposed to straight 11 seta on first stern plate as opposed to 9, and fewer central setae on the sternites, more seta on the central tergites, and a more pointed apical projection of coxa I.
The COI molecular data for this species clusters with WAM PSE255 and WAM PSE257 but they differ by 11.5% (Dr. J. Huey, pers. comm.).

Fauna Portal Records
The map shows all records that have been verified as part of the Fauna Portal project and may not represent the true distribution of a species. Specifically, for described species, check the link to the Atlas of Living Australia on this page for potential wider distributions. Fauna Portal Reference specimens and Linnean types are shown in red. If you identified a specimen that exceeds the distribution of an undescribed species as illustrated here, please contact the Fauna Portal team who can assist with the lodgement of the specimen in a public institution and display on the map.
