(after Moulds 1985): Tamasa Distant is the only other genus occurring in Australia belonging to the Cicadini. lllyria is at once separated from it by the much larger male tymbal covers which almost conceal the tymbals, whereas the tymbal covers of Tamasa cover no more than half the area of the tymbals.
