(after Harvey 1986): The Geogarypidae are distinguished from the Garypidae by the following character states: coxa IV not significantly wider than coxa I; anal plate subterminal, without lateral rim, and not distinctly oval; cheliceral flagellum of 1 small, aspinose blade; spiracular stigmatic helix present. Other important characters include: carapace subtriangular, without carapaceal alae, 4 eyes on ocular tubercles situated c. fthe length of the carapace from the anterior margin; venom apparatus present in both chela1 fingers; and usually diplotarsate.
